Americans Delaying the Purchasing of New Cars

With the results of a recent study done in the United States being released, it appears that almost half of all Americans have put off buying a new vehicle, even with all of the discounts and rebates that are being offered. Most of the people reported that they are holding off due to the economic times. Shockingly enough, only 18 percent of people surveyed said the only reason they are putting off buying a new vehicle was because of high interest rates.

According to the Consumer Reports study, 38 percent of those studied said they decided that their current car was in good enough condition to keep using for a while longer. Other factors listed were 30 percent said vehicles are to expensive, 30 percent said it was due to the weak economy and 18 percent said they were waiting for technology in fuel-saving cars to increase and for the prices to decrease.

The study was conducted over the phone from December 4th through th 8th, 2008, so take this study as you would, I think they need to do a more indepth study, but never the less, it isn’t very surprising what they found out.
