Parkinson’s disease affects every day activities that people take for granted. Things such as brushing your teeth, walking, or even getting out of bed become a problem for people with Parkinson’s disease. The cause of this is because of dopamine depletion, which results in stiffness or slowing of movement and fine motor dysfunction. Thirty patients are participating in a study to see whether occupational therapy will help them in the long run, and they are doing this by using a Nintendo Wii. Some use the Wii for loosening up and timing, while others use it for coordination and balance.
