Microsofts Password Checker

microsoft.gifHave you ever wondered just how strong that password is that you are using for your various needs, such as online banking? Well it appears Microsoft has posted a web application that will tell you just how strong and secure your password is. Now, this isn’t something new, it has been around for a long time, its just making headlines now because Microsoft has came out with it. Now, don’t worry, according to the webpage, Microsoft claims that the passwords that you enter are not transmitted to Microsoft, they claim it is just like logging into windows, you enter your passwords, its validated, and nothing is sent out over the internet.

A strong password should appear to be a random string of characters to an attacker. It should be 14 characters or longer, (eight characters or longer at a minimum). It should include a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

If you need help creating a password, Microsoft has also put together a good article on how to construct strong passwords that you would know, but others would have a hard time guessing. Check out the article by .
